Tribute to our beloved David of Bilbo’s Motorhomes and Industry Pioneer.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of David Latham the owner and co-founder of Bilbo’s Motorhomes, the award-winning campervan converter and one of the most respected names in the UK leisure vehicle industry.

Alongside his wife Moira, David established Bilbo’s Motorhomes in 1977, beating their own path in a new industry and shaping it into the trusted and innovative brand it is today. From the very beginning, their vision and commitment to quality and craftsmanship set the business apart, helping to build a reputation for excellence that has been recognised through industry awards and the loyalty of customers across the UK.

He played a central role in developing the ethos of the company, one rooted in integrity, attention to detail, honesty, fairness and a genuine passion for campervan travel. Under his guidance, Bilbo’s Motorhomes grew from a family venture into a leading UK brand, while remaining true to its founding values.

David had slowed down in recent years to semi-retirement, whilst keeping a check on progress and helping make big decisions. The business will continue under the leadership of his daughter Elesha, alongside Chris, both long-standing and influential directors within the company. Together, they bring continuity, experience and a shared commitment to honouring the legacy that has been built, while guiding Bilbo’s Motorhomes confidently into the future.

His unique personality and leadership to Bilbo’s Motorhomes, and to the wider campervan community, will not be forgotten. He leaves behind a remarkable legacy, a strong family business, and a brand that continues to reflect the passion and dedication on which it was founded.
